Currently, our next door "neighbors" are tearing apart their townhouse and dumping everything into a big truck. Why do I know this? Firstly, because the noise is deafening. Everywhere in this townhouse you can hear the thuds and sound of metal being thrown out the second story window into a dump truck. Thankfully the kids have not awoken from their naps because if they had, I might just go out and give them a piece of my mind. Secondly, I went outside to make sure our car was not hit by a flying piece of metal or carpet or some other piece of material. It had not, although I think we are sort of stuck here since I don't think I would risk maneuvering the car while things are flying through the air. It's pretty annoying.
It's still dreadfully hot down here in Southern Florida. I think on Halloween it's going to be in the 90's. I guess it's better than snow but I'll certainly be glad to see the 70's again. We don't have any specific plans for Halloween. I doubt if we will do anything actually. On Friday we will be attending a Halloween party which will provide more than enough opportunity to dress up and get candy for Isabelle. What will Isabelle dress up as? Well, I don't quite know for sure. I suppose you'll have to stay tuned.
We've managed to stay illness free which seems to be remarkable considering how many people have the flu around here(and in Nebraska). I'm trying to keep everyone isolated as much as possible. Call me overprotective if you want, I'm attempting to do what I can to keep both my little ones free of H1N1. They are too small for me not to worry.
Recently, I came across an idea for a Rainbow Cake that I thought was kinda fun. I did my own take on it, with the help(ok more like hindrance) of Isabelle. It ended up turning out pretty neat but not without alotta drama(I know that is not correct grammar but I liked the way it sounded) along the way. First of all, Isabelle would not stop trying to lick everything with raw cake batter on it while I was trying to assemble the cake into a pan. I had put her on the counter so she could help, but more than anything she ended up with cake batter all over her clothes. Anyway, the cake finally went in the oven and came out without anything dramatic happening. So, it was time to frost the cake! I had my little helper on the counter once again and was mixing color into the frosting. Isabelle of course loved the sugar concoction and kept sticking her fingers into the bowl. At one point she starts to fall off the counter and so I grab her, in the process she gets globs of frosting in her hair from the spatula I was stirring with. Then, in a series of events I'm still a bit confused about, she manages to throw a glass bowl off the counter shattering it. I clean it up, leaving her on the counter so she doesn't get into the glass and when I look back up she has peeled a decent amount of garlic(we have it sitting out sometimes) and spilled rancid apple juice all over herself(I don't even feel like attempting to explain that one). Let's just say she was a mess. My cake on the other hand, turned out very nicely!
My beautiful cake....this would be first ever attempt at decorating a cake.
The "Rainbow" part of the cake.
Contrary to your probable belief, no she does not wear the Elvis onesie all the time. This is the best smile I could get. She smiles a lot these days.
This one is blurry and kinda grainy as it was taken on my Iphone without a flash but it's funny nonethless. As you can see, Evangeline doesn't mind being man-handled(or toddler-handled) one bit.
